Lola Christine Butler, 92, of Savannah passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
A native of Toombs County, she was retired after 31 years of service with Hunt Wesson Food Inc. in Savannah. Christine was a member of Southside Baptist Church and enjoyed being with her friends and family. She was known to her loved ones as Mongee. She was a very tough, spunky woman who was always there for her family. Mongee never missed a birthday, holiday or any special occasion which involved family gatherings. She always had a great story to tell. She was a huge Braves fan and according to some of her “stories” she was a personal friend with most of the players. Mongee enjoyed being outside and doing yard work. Her loving legacy will live on not only through good memories but her amazing talent to cook her world famous dressing, roast and pecan pies! She will be greatly missed and we will cherish our memories forever.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Miller and E. "Perry" Butler and her daughter, Edwina Thomas. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Evette Miller, her loving grandchildren, Steve and Amanda Miller, Lance and Michelle Miller, Haley and Jeremy Counihan, great grandchildren, Austyn, Cooper, Landyn, Jalyn, Chi, Lanier, Braeden, Adri, Riley, and other siblings and family members throughout Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.
A gathering for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2020 at Dean Forest Baptist Church, 1524 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, GA 31408, services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Guy Boyd officiating. Burial will be private at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
