Leslie Anne Terrell Brannen 52, of Savannah passed away from colon cancer on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at her home surrounded by family and friends.
A native of Savannah, she was the daughter of Robbie Terrell, Jr and Miriam Rushing Terrell. She is survived by her parents, her husband Robert Brannen, her son Neil Alexander Casey, brother’s Chris (Eve) and Jason (Nikki) Terrell, sister Lisa Terrell Crews (Aaron) and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul Leslie and Lucile Rushing and Robbie Sr and Agnes Broderick Terrell.
Leslie graduated from Windsor Forest High School in 1987 where she was a Chatelaine, a member of the softball team and in the marching band. She played the clarinet from middle thru high school. She earned a Bachelor of Political Science from Armstrong Atlantic State University in 1998 and completed 1 year of Graduate school at Georgia Southern University.
In April of 1998 she began working for Ellis, Painter, Ratterree & Adams (EPRA) Law firm as a real estate paralegal. She left for a few years to work as the office and project manager at Chatham Surveying Services. She returned to her EPRA family and was the Office manager until her illness prevented her from returning to work. She loved her job and her work family.
Anyone that knew Leslie knew that she was tough as nails. Not surprising given she comes from a long line of strong willed women. From an early age she was a great athlete, strong as an ox and competitive to say the least. She began playing softball at an early age for the Royals and continued to play thru high school and as an adult. You didn’t want to be the one trying to score a run if she was covering home plate. As a way to spend time with her son, Alex, she began taking Karate. Leslie earned her black belt and was the 2005-2006 ATA Georgia State Champion in her division winning first place in form, sparring and weapons. Roller skating was a favorite of hers from an early age. Her competitive nature and love of a good fight made roller derby a perfect past time. In 2009 she joined the Savannah Derby Devil’s going by the name Venomous Candy.
Watching her son Alex grow from the sweet boy she brought into this world to the man he is today was her greatest joy. In 2012 she married the love of her life, Robert Brannen. God could not have sent her a more loving and devoted husband. They loved traveling to new places and dining at different restaurants together. With Rob she gained another family with amazing in laws, Jenny and Bobby Brannen, whom she loved dearly and that loved her like she was their own. Leslie was a beautiful soul that loved life, her family, friends and Jesus Christ. She was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend to many. She had a heart of gold with an infectious laugh and radiant smile. She was not afraid to work hard or get her hands dirty. She was always willing to help anyone in need. She was loved and will be missed by many.
