Laura Jane Easterling Lowe, 91, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Dec. 30, 2016 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born in Daisy, GA, to Edgar D. and Harriette B. Easterling, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. (R.L.) Lowe, Sr., and daughter, Jane Lowe Bolen.
She was a 1946 graduate of the Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, having been in the 1st Class of the Cadet Nurse Corps in 1943, affiliated with the University of Georgia Junior College. She was the 1st President of the Georgia Baptist Student Council.
Married to R.L. Lowe in 1948, she began her nursing career at the former Oglethorpe Hospital in Savannah. After working as a registered nurse for 3 years, she spent 15 years raising her family and volunteering for the American Red Cross Blood Bank. Later she worked 15 years at Candler Hospital followed by working in "Research and Development" with the Chatham County Cardio Vascular Council. Her retirement was short lived, as she was called to Westview Nursing Home where she taught "In-Service Training" for 10 years.
A member of Immanuel Baptist Church since 1960, she served as the Church Historian and the 1st President and as a member of the Silver Nuggets, a senior adult group.
She is survived by a son, Robert L. (Bob) Lowe, Jr., Atlanta; three daughters, Suzanne C. Lowe, and Patricia Anne Stalnaker (Bob), both of Savannah and Pamela L. McGahee (Chris) of Nicholson; four grandchildren, Robert L. Lowe, III, Lisa Bolen Beasley, John Paul Stalnaker and Christopher O. McGahee; two great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Joe Christian and his staff as well as the staff at Insignia of Savannah (formerly Savannah Cottages) for their love and abiding care of our loved one.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, January, 4, at Immanuel Baptist Church, with Rev. Earl Best, officiating.
Interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
