On Sunday morning, November 3, 2019 Wilbur Wiggins transitioned from living for Jesus to living with Jesus. His 63 years on earth will have a ripple effect in eternity because of many whose hearts were changed by his consistent, quiet, and contagious faith.
His 28 years of marriage to his wife, Pam Dasher Wiggins, was shared with three daughters: Jessica Cruzado (Bryand), Madison Wiggins, and Sarah Wiggins. Wilbur always considered Pam and their three daughtersto be “good and perfect gifts” from God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lehman and Mildred Wiggins, and is survived by a brother, Bruce Wiggins (Barbara), of Lakeland, Florida. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and sister/brothers-in-law.
A native Savannahian, he graduated from Jenkins High School in 1974 and went on to earn a civilengineering degree at Georgia Tech.
He was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 40 years in the Hydrology and Hydraulics Branch. He was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon.
His major influence outside his church and family resulted from serving as a Young Life volunteer leader for over thirty years during which he shared his musical and many other gifts. Hundreds of teenagers saw the trajectory of their lives changed because of Wilbur’s quiet yet powerful impact. He rarely preached the Gospel, but he lived out the Christian life in such a way that his unspoken message had far more power than any spoken word.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3pm, Friday, November 8 at Independent Presbyterian Church with a reception with the family to follow in the church fellowship hall. Remembrances may be sent in his memory to Young Life of Savannah, P.O. Box 14456, Savannah, GA. 31416
