Kenneth "Kenny" D. Daiss, Sr., 77, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015. He was born in Savannah on October 15, 1938 to the late Estelle Schuman and Lawrence Raymond Daiss, Sr. and was preceded in death by his wife Susan Bailey Daiss and his brother Lawrence Raymond Daiss, Jr., as well as his first wife and the mother of his children, Shirley Barnard Daiss.
Kenny was a 1956 graduate of Commercial High School. He worked for and later owned Daiss Oil Company for over 50 years and relocated the company from its original location on Paulsen Street to Skidaway Road in the early 1970's. He served as a member of the 117th Georgia Air National Guard and was honorably discharged. Kenny had a love and passion for restoring old cars and one of his favorites was a black 1940 Ford Coupe. He was a life-long NASCAR fan that came from his own success in the drag racing circuit in the mid 1950's with several trophies earned for his success.
Kenny is survived by his sons: Ken (Terri) Daiss, Jr. of Indiana. Chris (Debbie) Daiss, Sr. of Connecticut, Tim Daiss, who lives and works in Vietnam, and Andy (Brenda) Daiss of Savannah, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, November 22nd at Bonaventure Funeral Home in Savannah.
Graveside Services: Monday, November 23rd, 11 A.M. in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
