Kathryn Alice Fox Yocco, 83, of Savannah, died Saturday at her residence after a long illness.
She was born in Fayette County, West Virginia, and had been a resident of Savannah since the early 1950's.
She attended the West Virginia Institute of Technology, and continued her education after raising her family of eight children. She earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Savannah State/Armstrong State Colleges, Education Specialist degree from Georgia Southern University and Doctor of Education from Nova University.
She taught early Childhood Education and Preschool Special Education in Savannah public schools 23 years, she taught part-time at Armstrong State College. She was a member of several educational organizations, locally and regionally. She was a frequent presenter at workshops and seminars on child development and preschool special education.
She was a member of the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, in Thunderbolt, GA and was active in church functions, coordinator of Religious Education Classes.
She was a member and former president of the Savannah Business and Professional Woman's Club.
She is survived by her husband, William F. Yocco; five sons and daughters in law, Stan and Iris Yocco of Acworth, GA, Matt and Nancy Yocco of Hilton Head, SC, Mark Yocco of Statesboro, GA, Michael and Selena Yocco of Rincon, GA and Dean and Kathie Yocco of Savannah, GA; three daughters and sons in law, Kay and Ed McCafferty of Thunderbolt, GA, Kim Yocco Caines of Whiteville, NC, Karen and Mark Goggans of Savannah, GA; 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Thunderbolt, GA., followed by a gathering from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
