Justin Brett Waters

Justin “Brett” Waters, age 51, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 27, 2023.

Brett was born October 15, 1971 in Savannah, Georgia. He was the son of Patricia Salter Waters Haupt and Jule Guerry Waters. At age thirteen, Brett began playing the piano at his lifelong church, Immanuel Baptist Church. He assisted and helped organize Wednesday night suppers at the church beside his church members for many years. Brett attended Calvary Baptist and graduated in 1990. After graduation, Brett worked as a real estate appraiser until his love of cooking took over and he joined the catering business, eventually purchasing Papa’s BBQ. Brett was not only a wonderful cook, he was an amazing baker.

Brett will be remembered for his kind heart. He was a very considerate man that cared deeply for others.

Brett is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Mary Salter; and his paternal grandparents, Julian Odell Waters and Adele Glover Fields

He is survived by his loving mother, Patricia Waters Haupt; his father, Jule Guerry Waters; his three brothers, Cam Waters (Lesley), Guerry Waters (Verna), Jarred Waters; his niece, Claire Waters; his three nephews, Colin Waters, Logan Waters, Aiden Waters; and many cousins.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia. Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. a funeral service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 7375 Hodgson Memorial Dr, Savannah, GA 31406. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
