Julia Rousakis Alfieris died peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved family on December 10, 2018. Born May 14, 1930, she was 88 years old. She is going to join her many friends and family members that have embarked on this journey before her. It comforts her surviving family greatly to know that there is a line waiting for Julia in the next phase of her life.
A lifelong Savannahian, she attended Savannah High School, and Draughn's Business college. While in high school during WWII, she helped in her father's business, Paul's Soda Shop, which went on to become a Savannah landmark. A marker commemorating the "hang out" was placed at it's location on Bull St and Maupaus. To this day, patrons during the shops' heyday hold a yearly get together to reminisce about the good times had there. In her married life she was active in charitable organizations, such as Sertoma, and St. Barbara's Philoptochos at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church. Along with her two sisters, Maria and Alice they opened America Travels, a high personal service travel agency on Bay St.
Daughter of the late Paul & Antigone Rousakis. Julia was preceded in death by her husband Costa "Gus" Alfieris, her brother, the Honorable John P. Rousakis, sisters Maria Rousakis Nichols, and Alice Rousakis Fleming.
She is survived by her children, Joseph Costa Alfieris, Patrice Alfieris Kiley, and Ann Alfieris Markou (Fotios), her granddaughter Emily Patrice Carra(Tom), and two great grandchildren Thomas and Rowan Carra. Also, several nieces and nephews.
She was a kind caring and compassionate woman who welcomed her children's many friends who visited out home. Many affectionately called her "Thea Julia, the Greek word for Aunt. Julia will be remembered always by all who knew her.

Visitation: 5pm to 7pm December 13, 2018 at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church with a Trisagion Service at 6pm.
Funeral Services: 11am Dec. 14, 2018 at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
