Joyce Ellen Langley, Savannah, GA passed away peacefully at home with her family on January 12, 2023 under the care of Compassus Hospice.
Joyce was born in Albany, NY on July 20th, 1943 to Margit Swenson Rubin and Nathan Rubin. Joyce is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Paul Rubin, Ithaca, NY. She leaves nephews, Eli Rubin, Jacksonville, FL and Louie Rubin, Ithaca, NY. Roalynda Langley, Cohoes, NY and Robert Langley, Cohoes, NY.
Joyce married Frederick Langley, Cohoes, NY in 1964 and had two sons, Frederick Langley, Evans, GA and Eric Langley, Richmond Hill, GA. Three grandchildren, Rachel Langley, Redmond, WA, Brandon Langley, Richmond Hill, GA, and Abigail Langley, Evans, GA.
Joyce graduated from Vooresville High School, Vooresville, NY and State College of New York where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. She taught mathematics in Michigan, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and lastly Massachusetts, where she was Mathematics Department Head at Pentuckett Regional High School, Haverhill, MA until retirement.
Joyce and husband Fred, upon retirement, move from New Hampshire to The Landings on Skidaway Island in 2003 where they built their retirement home. Active boaters, they enjoyed exploring the waterways of coastal Georgia along with the wonderful city of Savannah. Avid travelers, they enjoyed seeing the world together. Joyce was a talented quilt artist and served as a member and president of the Savannah Quilt Guild. Her works were shown in many quilt events in Savannah.
Joyce had a wonderful personality and was known for her "unfiltered" opinions. She was loved and admired by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. A celebration of life is being planned this summer for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Senior Citizens Inc., 3025 Bull St. Savannah, GA 31405.
