Joyce Kessel, age 91, of Savannah, Georgia, suddenly passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
Joyce was born on September 10, 1931, in Blackshear, Georgia, to the late Oden and Lottie Mae Dixon. She dedicated 35 years of her life as an assignment clerk with Southern Bell Telephone Company before retiring. Joyce took great pride in her membership with the Communications Workers of America Union. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Club. Joyce (Deedee) will be missed greatly by her family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, John Kessel. Also, her departed son in laws, Kenneth Sellers and Donald Bean. She is survived by her sister, Macy Peacock and brothers, Dan and Harry Dixon. Her daughters, Cindy Beasley (Tim), Kathy Bean, Karen Washburn (Carl), as well as five grandchildren, Amanda (Jonathan), Heather (Ben), Laine (Roy), Brittney (Derek), Breanna and five great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ansley, Lena, Morgan and Emmy.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, located at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
Interment will follow in Greenwich Cemetery (330 Greenwich Road Savannah, GA 31404).
