Joshua (Josh) Julian Smith, 24, entered eternal peace on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Candler Medical Center in Savannah, GA.
Josh, as he was affectionately called, was born on October 17, 1992 in Savannah, GA. to Tracy and the late George Smith.
He received his formal education in the Chatham County School System and attended Windsor Forest High School. Josh later joined Brunswick Job Corps to receive advanced green training in manufacturing, automotive, and construction. He was excited about making new friends and getting the necessary training that would prepare him for his future in a professional workplace.
Josh was active in football and basketball in high school. He was considered a sports fanatic that loved the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers. Wherever Lebron James was playing - you would also find Josh watching and applauding in excitement.
Josh was a faithful and active member of Living Hope Community Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Joyce C. Hall. He truly had a servant's heart when it came to the Usher and Hospitality ministries. Josh's love for children led him to become an assistant Children's Church teacher. He even worked with the Sound Ministry for a period of time.
Josh was known by family and friends as a gentle, kind and quiet young man with a true heart of gold.
He is preceded in death by a devoted father George J. Smith, his sister, Christina N. Smith, his maternal grandfather, Samuel J. Jones his paternal grandparents, George and Lula M. Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother, Tracy Smith. Three sisters: Taylor and Carmari Smith of Savannah, GA. Noshakoia Clipper, Maryland, his brother, Cameron Smith also of Savannah, GA, his maternal grandparents, Joe and Charlie Mae Powell of Fitzgerald, GA.
A Memorial service will be held, Friday, April 14, 2017 at 6 pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held, Monday, April 17, 2017 at 12 noon at Mt. Olive AME Church, 3594 Georgia Hwy 268 West, Broxton, GA 31519. Pastor Joyce C. Hall Officiating.
Burial will be in Broxton City Cemetery.
