A resident of Savannah, Georgia, Jonathan Heath Love passed away from natural causes, September 19, 2020 at Candler Hospital in Savannah.
Jonathan was the oldest of the Love triplets, born in Rockford, Illinois on February 7, 1947. All in the two pound range at birth, their survival was just short of a miracle. The triplets spent most of their youth growing up in New Canaan, Connecticut. Their story was constantly chronicled in local newspapers as they thrived, since triplets were somewhat unusual for the time.
Mr. Love was the son of James Stewart Love and Lucy Eileen Heath. He was pre-deceased by his sister Pamela Jean Kokot and brother James Baker Love. He is survived by his niece, Sarah Love and nephews Jonathan Kokot and Jeremy Love.
He spent a year at Babson College before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. As a Marine, he spent a tour of duty in the highly volatile demilitarized zone between North and South Vietnam. Mr. Love was a proud veteran and a member of the VFW, where he could often be found reminiscing with other veterans and new found friends.
A craftsman, house painter and carpenter, Mr. Love was most comfortable wandering about the United States that he loved, in his van outfitted with meager comforts of home and the tools of his trade. Notably, he would frequently spend long stretches of time in various Florida locations, Nantucket, Massachusetts, northern Vermont, near the Canadian border, Denver, Colorado and Matagorda Bay, Texas. A dog lover, he had a fondness for birds, and could identify most species he encountered in his travels. He had a love for locally made arts and crafts - many of which he acquired through his travels.
In summary, he led a simple life, unencumbered by the trappings of modern technology, and guided by a huge heart and a desire to help anyone in need. He will be missed and fondly remembered. Semper Fidelis!
