Johnny Walter Campbell, 74, of Richmond Hill and husband of Pat Campbell, went to heaven peacefully at his home. He was born in Baxley, Georgia on February 8th, 1943, the son of the late Walter G. and Nettie Aycock Campbell. Johnny was a 1960 graduate of Savannah High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army for 2 years. Johnny hired out with the Seaboard Airline Railroad (CSX) and retired after 41 years of service. Johnny is survived by his wife, Patricia Hanberry Campbell; four children; Zane (Becky) Campbell of St. Louis, Melody (Jim) Young of Metter, Matt (Chrissy) Campbell of Roswell, and Jessica (Steven) Carbone of Wilmington Island; and 14 grandchildren: Tristan (19), Hunter (18), Olivia (17), Lane (16), Michael (15), Carter (13), Mary Kathryn (12), Ella (11), Christian (9), Cameron (8), Mia (7), Colt (7), Andrew (3), and Wesley (3 months). He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play ball. Johnny enjoyed playing cards with his friends, Georgia Bulldog football, and was an avid Fantasy Football player. He spent his last day on this Earth with a smile on his face socializing with his railroad family which he adored. He was a patient, kind, gentle man who would do anything for anyone. He was a man of integrity, and with his quick wit and charm, he could make anyone feel like they were the most important person in the room. Johnny was active at Compassion Christian Church, and loved serving at the Lighthouse Ministry. Johnny W. Campbell will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, and a memorial service at 12:00 pm, Monday, November 20th at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.
