Johnnie Sears, Jr., age 69, of Savannah, passed away on Monday, July 15th, 2013 at Savannah Beach Nursing and Rehabilitation.
A native of Savannah, he was a member of the Second Bryan Baptist Church. Mr. Sears was a Switchman with CSX Railroad and was retired after 25 years of service.
He is survived by his 4 children; Donna M. McFadden of Savannah, Deon L. Sears of Atlanta, John D, Sears of Atlanta, & Dereka D. Pullins of Savannah; 4 brothers and 1 sister; Leon Sears of Savannah, Al Sears of Atlanta, Joseph Gibbs of Savannah, Deborah Gibbs of Savannah, and Talmadge E. Gibbs of Savannah.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bonaventure Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 20th, at 12:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Frank Ellis officiating. Entombment to follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East.
Pallbearers will be members of the SCJ Athletic Hall of Fame and his brothers will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
