John Landrum Wilder, Sr. (76) passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on January 23, 1944 to parents Jack and Rose Wilder in Savannah, Georgia. He attended Savannah High School. He founded and ran Wilder Plumbing as a young man and later in life invested in real estate resales and rentals. John also taught at the Local 188 Plumbers, Pipefitters, HVAC Journeymen & Apprentices school, launching many young men in the plumbing and pipefitting trade. John was a member of Thunderbolt Masonic Lodge 693 in Savannah.
Anyone who knew John was blessed by his larger-than-life personality, his infectious smile and his love of his family and his country. We will all miss his big heart and common-sense approach to life. He was a mentor to many, and a good Samaritan to those in need, often anonymously offering aid and assistance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Rose Wilder, his son, Bryan Stephen Wilder and sister, Jean Wilder Coleman.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Demas Wilder, his son, John Landrum Wilder, Jr. (wife Carol) his daughter, Lois Achord Houston (husband Robert), son, William M. Achord (wife Dara) and grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Houston, Jenna Frances Achord, Mason William Achord, Angelina Marie Houston, Olivia Scarlett Wilder, and Sean Landrum Wilder.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 6-8 PM at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home on Hodgson Memorial Drive in Savannah, Georgia. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Hillcrest Abbey West cemetery.
