John Wesley Hager of Savannah, GA, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the age of 80. He was a man who loved his family, to build things from the simplest of materials, and to be on a boat in the midst of the coastal waters of Georgia.
John was born to parents Wallace and Fannie (Robins) Hager in Duluth Minnesota on January 21, 1936. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota. He was structural engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Savannah, Georgia, for 38 years. His greatest accomplishments as an engineer included a role in the construction and maintenance of several dams in Georgia, including Richard B. Russell, West Point, and Hartwell Dams.
John is survived by his wife, Barbara Hager (Hodge);his sister, Betty Sieger and brother, Robert Hager of Duluth, MN; his daughter, MaryAnn Hager; three sons, Michael Hager, John Hager, Patrick S. Hager (Rebecca); five grandchildren, Cassie Hager, Amanda Boyle, Jessica Bryson, Joseph Hager, and Patrick Raymond Hager, as well as a large extended family.
A memorial celebration for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
