John Haygood NeSmith, aka "The Killer", was born June 8, 1944 in Savannah, Ga. John passed away March 8, 2017 at his home in Savannah. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1962, was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired form CSX Railroad, a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a current member of the Moose Lodge and Savannah Shag Club.
Johnny was short in stature but long in likeability and was very social and was much of an entertainer. In days past, Johnny was always well-dressed, perfumed up and ready to Rock 'n Roll. He was definitely a legend in his own mind. In recent times, however, Johnny took his fashion cues from no other. It was rare to see him out of his flannel pajama pants. But, come Friday night, he was dressed and ready to go sing Karaoke.
He is preceded in death by his Mother Eunice Haygood NeSmith; sisters, Veleta Wood, Christine Boyd and Marie Mannion.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Linda P. NeSmith; step-daughter Melissa Andrews; sons, John Micheal NeSmith, Joseph Casey NeSmith; daughter, Kimberly Renee' NeSmith; granddaughters, Laila Dossey, Shaleigh NeSmith, from Savannah, GA, and other grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Johnny was definitely one-of-a-kind and found humor in every situation. He was a sweet and gentle soul and he will be missed by many.
