John R. Jarvis Jr., 78, entered eternal rest Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Hospice of Savannah.
John was retired from the US Army as a Small Arms Weapon Expert and retired from St. Joseph Candler Hospital as a Security Guard. He was an active member of The Life Church at Ardsley Park and enjoyed baking for the Church. He was well known for his pound cakes. He volunteered at the USO to help send and receive troops and welcome them back. He also gave more than 18 gallons of blood in his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents John R. Jarvis Sr. and Ruth Johnston Jarvis; grandson, Owen Ellis Sandt; brother, Tommy Jarvis; and sister, Eleanor Moore.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Nettie Mood Jarvis; two sons, John "Rou" Jarvis III (Rudy Caraballo), Bernard Stefan Jarvis (Ruth Jarvis); two daughters, Nettie Selina Brown (Robert Brown), and Renee Ingle (Warren Ingle); sister, Dorothy Brown (Ray Brown); grandchildren, Katherine Sandt (Fiancé Matt Davis), Brighton Sandt, John Kaleb Jarvis, Steven Jarvis, Olivia Davis, Elijah Jarvis, and Hillary Martenson.
Visitation: 5 pm to 7 pm Monday, February 19, 2018 at Baker McCullough Funeral Homes- Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Graveside Service: 1 pm Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Bonaventure Cemetery.
