John J. Monahan, Jr., age 26, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020.
John was born in Dalton, GA on February 2, 1994. He was the co-owner of Monahan & Sons, Inc. He attended Calvary Baptist Temple and was active with Band of Brothers Savannah.
John is survived by his son, Kaden; parents, John and Michelle Monahan; and his siblings, Matthew Monahan, Madelyn Monahan, and Will Monahan. He was preceded in death by his girlfriend and Kaden’s mother, Charisa Combs.
For John's entire life, he never met a stranger. He was intimidated by nothing, loved his son, family and friends intensely and was passionately loyal. He gravitated to people in pain and always wanted to help them.
The flip side of his intense personality was his addiction. He fought so, so hard to overcome this. In recent years, he would have his ups and downs but addiction was always a struggle. In the end, he just could not overcome his struggles.
But here’s the good news! Several years ago, he devoted his life to Jesus and was passionate about God and his faith. We KNOW that he is in the arms of Jesus and he is FREE AT LAST!
His family finds comfort in the fact that they will see him again soon. This life on earth is temporary and we are only here a short time. Love the ones you’re put on earth to love and make sure you know where you will spend your eternity.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2020 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Temple – John Wilder Chapel, 4625 Waters Avenue, Savannah, GA 31404. Burial will follow the service at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
