John Miller Cook, 97, of Savannah, GA passed away Sunday November 4, 2018.
He was born in Savannah, GA and was a graduate of Savannah High School, class of 1940.
He was a United States Veteran of WWII of the United States Navy. He was apart of D-Day, the Invasion of France, and was awaiting orders on the borders of Japan at the end of the war. He worked for the Central of Georgia Railroad, and was an accountant for Bomark Transport Company until he was 87. He was a faithful member of the Chapel in the Gardens Presbyterian Church, as well as First Christian Church of Savannah. He was of the Scottish Rite Consistory- Valley of Savannah, a member of and Past Master of the Landrum Lodge #48, F & AM, and the Alee Shrine Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Sr. and Lulay Carney Cook; and wives, Betty Norman Cook and Evelyn Blackburn Cook.
He is survived by his son, J. Miller Cook, Jr (Maureen).; daughters, Susan Cook Hill (Robbie) and Betsy Cook West (Kevin); stepson, Frederick D. Blackburn (Debbie); step-daughters, Linda Blackburn Jones (Steve) and Patricia Blackburn Schernekau (Kenneth); grandchildren, Tripp West (Jill), Gibson Hill (Aubrey), Justin Hill, Jessica Cook, Stephanie Cook; step-grandchildren, Brittany Blackburn, Jessica Greene, Jonathan Greene, Lauren Stewart (Donald), Lindsey Jammoul (Mohamned), Dekle Blackburn, and Blake Schernekau (Jessica); and 9 great- grandchildren.
Visitation: 5pm to 7pm Wednesday October 7, 2018 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Graveside Service will be at 11 am Thursday October 8, 2018 at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery with Rev. Daren Russell officiating.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Chapel in the Gardens Presbyterian Church 93 Main St. Garden City, GA 31408.
