John Langdon Galletta Sr, age 80, of Port Wentworth, GA, passed away on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 at his home under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.
He was born on Sunday, September 26th, 1943 in Savannah, GA to the late Mary Edna Galletta Helmey and the late Joseph Eugene Galletta.
Lang was a High School graduate of Herschel V Jenkins High School and served in the Army. He began his career at the Great Dane Company and went on to co-own and operate J E Galletta & Son Auto Repair, as well as own and operate Galletta & Son Auto Repair. Lang retired from the US Postal Service, where he worked as a mechanic.
In addition to his family and career, Lang enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, and anything with a motor and a cam. In the 1970's and 1980's, he had a Race Crew that won 3 Track Championships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 42 years, Sherrian McClendon Galletta, a daughter, Angela Nicole Galletta, 2 grandson, John Austin Galletta and Kimmy Galletta.
He is survived by his sons, John Langdon Galletta Jr (Holly), Jody Galletta, Justin W. Galletta and Jeremy R. Galletta (Jessica); grandchildren, Marissa, Mallory, Langdon, Adalynn, and Sasson Wang; great grandson Deakon. John is also survived by his siblings, Beverly Stucky and Robert Galletta Sr. and his adopted family Kristy S. Ward, Brandon Odom, and Travis Williams.
A visitation will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel on Saturday, April 6th, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
