John "Johnny "W. Gillis, Jr., 85, of Savannah passed away Wednesday January 30, 2019 at Memorial Health University Hospital.
A native of Statesboro, Georgia, Johnny was the son of the late Johnny Wedrell Gillis, Sr. and the late Pearl Coleman Gillis. He attended Savannah High School and was United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War.
Johnny was a retired from Hutchinson Transportation Company. He also worked in the Mobile Home Sales Business for over 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 36, VFW Post 660, Moose Lodge 1550 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #330.
He is survived by his wife, Edna M. Gillis; sons, Steve J. Gillis and Jeffery W. Gillis; step-children, Cynthia A. Stewart, Anthony D. Howe, David E. Cox, Nancy C. Morrow; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will have a gathering from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, followed by a committal service with Military Honors .
