With great sadness, we announce the passing of John Wesley Hudson, a loved husband and a devoted friend. John departed this life on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the age of 84. A long-time resident of Savannah, Georgia, John was born on August 31, 1940, in Louisville, Georgia, to the late Claude C. Hudson and Ellie Viola.
John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, instilling in him values of discipline and service that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, he found his calling and career as a skilled plumber as a member of Local 188 and worked for Consolidated Plumbing, eventually retiring after many years of dedicated hard work.
In John’s retirement years, he developed an enjoyment for model airplanes and cars, collecting baseball cards, watching the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves win, and watching old westerns. He had a faithful Chocolate lab, Jackson, that sat at his feet for the last 10 years.
John is fondly remembered and survived by his wife, Teresa Stewart and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service at Hillcrest Abbey West is planned for Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., where John will be laid to rest.
John will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John's memory to the Ronald McDonald House of the Coastal Empire.
