John Howard Nelson, 51, of Savannah, died on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at his home after a long illness.
He was born on April 23, 1965 in Birmingham, Alabama, to Caroline Brooks and the late John Walter Nelson.
John was a graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School in 1983 and Armstrong University in 1994, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. He worked a various hospitals, nursing homes and dialysis clinics throughout his nursing career. John had a love of music, playing guitar in many local bands over the years.
He was preceded in death by his loving stepfather, Nelson A. Sevier, Jr.
John is survived by his mother, Caroline Brooks; three sisters, Renee Quinn and her husband Alex, Liza Nelson, Michelle Lovelace; two nephews, Nelson Lovelace and Kristian Stiles, Jr.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home - Hubert C. baker Chapel, Savannah. A memorial service will be held Monday, at 11:00 am, in the chapel of Baker-McCullough Funeral Home.
