Mr. John Wesley Elder, age 55, of Savannah, died Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.
John was born on October 12, 1969 in Savannah to James Marvin Elder Sr. and Shirley Shuman Elder and lived in this area all his life. He attended Jenkins High School and worked with Savannah Tire for many years and most recently was a Heating and Air Conditioning Technician with Islands Air and Refrigeration. John attended Bible Baptist Church in Savannah and in his spare time he enjoyed playing baseball, fishing, and being outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. John was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs. He was a jokester, always was a comedian, and was very kindhearted, willing to help anyone he could. John is preceded in death by his son, Scott Elder and his father, James Marvin Elder Sr.
His family includes his son, Brandon Wesley Elder and his wife Ashley of Savannah; his mother, Shirley Shuman Elder of Savannah; his brother, James Marvin Elder Jr. of Savannah; his sisters, Becky Hodges of Springfield, Helen Yates and her husband Dan of Augusta, and Cyndi Gyuran of Savannah; six grandchildren, Hayden, Jaxton, AJ, Wyatt, Layla, and Daylen; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The celebration of life service will be on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10:00 am at Baker McCullough Funeral Home (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406).
