John Ashley Tanner passed quietly and peacefully in the early minutes of January 6, 2023 with his wife B.J. Tanner by his side in the hospital. John was surrounded by family in the days preceding his passing after a strong fight against illness.
John loved his work as a marine design engineer for nearly 30 years at Lockwood Green Engineers. He also was an active member of Marine Rescue Squadron Richmond Hill 7A. He worshiped his lord Jesus Christ at Compassion Christian Church. His passions love of the outdoors included many activities to include diving, fishing, and hunting as well as travelling.
John is survived by his wife B.J. Tanner; his daughter Kim Cobb, and stepson Ron Speir. John loved his nine grandchildren: Keirstan Cobb, Bradley Cobb, Gracie Alivia, Braiden Thain, Amanda Tanner, Amber Tanner, Ashley Tanner, Quinn Speir, and Hayley Speir as well as two great grandchildren Leo and Lenzo Cornell. John is survived by his brother Hal Tanner and sister Jane Bell as well as loving nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his loved sons John Tanner, Jr and Michael Tanner and stepson Jason Speir.
Visitation will be held at 10am on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Compassion Christian Church (East Campus), 9150 Old Montgomery Road, Savannah followed by the service at 11am. Burial will be at Northside Cemetery in Pembroke, Georgia at 1pm on the same day.
