John Arthur "Jack" Mullican, 73, died, Sunday, October 1 , 2017 at Summer Breeze Senior Living Center under the care of Pruitt Health Hospice. Born on May 12, 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the son of the late Oscar Lee Mullican, Sr. and the late Margaret Elizabeth O'Reilly Mullican. Jack suffered from Parkinson's disease and dementia.

Jack attended Chuckatuck High School for three years, then transferred to Frederick Military Academy in Portsmouth, VA, graduating in 1963. After three years at East Carolina College in Greenville, NC, he enlisted in the United States Army. He graduated from Army Aviation School in August 1967 and was immediately deployed to the Republic of Vietnam to fly helicopters. He was assigned to the 118th Assault Helicopter Company based at Bien Hoe Air Base. Jack was a combat veteran, and in 1968 he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for Heroism while participating in flight. In 1971 he graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree of Bachelor of Science. In 1972, he joined Union Camp Corporation as a pilot in their aviation department in Franklin, VA. Jack married Debra Ann Drake of Franklin, VA, and they relocated to Savannah, GA in 1976. He retired from Union Camp Corporation in 1997, then started his own business, Corporate Jet Pilot Service, and retired in 2010.

Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church of the Islands. He was a member and Past Master of Landrum Masonic Lodge # 48. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Directors Staff Unit of Alee Temple, Savannah Yacht Club and Forest City Gun Club. He enjoyed outdoor activities - fishing, scuba diving, skeet shooting, snow skiing and deer hunting. Jack loved going to Key West, Fl with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margaret Lee Clark; one brother, Charles Porter Mullican, Sr. and his wife, Dorothy Mae Goodwin Mullican.

Jack is survived by his wife of 41 years, Debra Drake Mullican; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Mullican Duncan and her husband, Randall Corey Duncan; two grandchildren, Ella Drake Duncan and Palmer Elizabeth Duncan; one brother, Oscar Lee Mullican, Jr. and his wife Iris Barnes Mullican; six nieces and one nephew.

Visitation: Wednesday, October 4, 2017, from 5-8, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.

The funeral and interment will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 in Suffolk, VA.
