Joe Brown Warnock Jr., passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024, in his home in Savannah, Georgia. Born on January 12, 1937, in Swainsboro, Georgia, Joe lived a life marked by Christian faith, hard work, and love for his family, church and neighbors. Joe was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Temple where he served as Usher Chairman for many years.
Joe was the son of the late Joe Brown Warnock Sr. and Pauline Flanders Warnock. He graduated from high school in Metter, GA, and built a fulfilling career of 42 years as an Instrument Mechanic at American Cyanamid/Kamira. His colleagues remember him as a diligent and skilled worker who committed himself fully to every task and enjoyed mentoring the next generation.
Joe and his wife, Frances enjoyed camping with their children and grandchildren while vacationing and sightseeing at their favorite, seasonal destinations. He enjoyed gardening, lawn work, woodworking and fishing trips with his brother-in-law, the late Jimmy Harrell. “The steps of a good man are led by the Lord” described Joe well.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his four sisters, Jeanette Pinion, Josie Wood, Jean Derr and Freddie Mincy, his brother, Woody Townsend and his grandson, Luke Lavely. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 65 years, Frances Warnock; son, Greg Warnock (Terri); daughter, Janet Lavely; four grandchildren, Jay Warnock (Ellen), Scott Warnock (Natalie), Abbey Lavely and Anna Lavely and four great grandchildren, Henry Warnock, Oliver Warnock, Presley Warnock and William Warnock as well as his many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
The family deeply appreciates the care and love given to Joe and Frances by Hospice Savannah, Isle of Hope neighbors, his sitters, church friends and ministers, niece, Cathy Hodges and extended family.
