JoAnne Ward Aeger, age 86, of Savannah passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

She was born on October 3, 1933 in Savannah, the daughter of the late Raleigh Calhoun and Catherine Carter Ward. She was a graduate of Commercial High School. She began her career working with GE Supply and later retired from Savannah Concrete. She was a faithful member of White Bluff United Methodist Church and loved her Contemporary Singles Sunday School Class. She was also active with the AMBUCS, the Exchange Club, the Commercial High Class of '51 Lunch Bunch, and the German Country Club.

Her greatest joy was spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, William Henry “Billy” Aeger; son, William Robert “Bobby” Hodges, III; and brother, Raleigh Calhoun Ward, Jr. She was the devoted mother of Sheryl Aeger Gay (Eddie), Susan Aeger Su (Claude) and Vicki Aeger Bradley (Jim); loving grandmother of Sara, Josh, Laura, Catherine, Ryan, Rebecca, Jay, and Thomas; and beloved great-grandmother (GiGi) to Ben, Danny, Will, Charlotte and Luke. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Conners (Joe) and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2020 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2020 at White Bluff United Methodist Church with burial following at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jay Bradley, Thomas Bradley, Josh Gay, Ryan Su, Ben Cozart, Danny Cozart, and Thomas DeGeorge.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Contemporary Singles Sunday School Class of White Bluff United Methodist Church and members of the Savannah Exchange Club.
