Mrs. Joan Sibilio, passed away after a short illness on November 4, 2024 at the age of 75 at Candler Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Mary E. Morel Hanberry and Wyburg M. Hanberry. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1967 and later went on to work for Asher’s Department Store on Broughton Street for 18 years, Equifax, Candler Hospital in patient accounts and Merchants Credit Bureau.
She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and cherished her church family.
Joan loved to laugh and loved her family dearly. She loved being a wife, mother, Mema, sister, aunt and friend. Joan was born in Fayetteville, NC at Fort Bragg AFB and was a life long resident of Savannah, GA.
Joan was married for 50 years to the love of her life Paul Sibilio, on July 27, 1967.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Andria M. Douglas and Michael T. Douglas; granddaughter, Natalie Rene’ Dent; sister, Patricia Campbell; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend and neighbor for more than 50 years, Mrs. Genell Phillips and Mrs. Henrietta Terrell that she cherished dearly.
She is proceeded in death by her husband of 50 years, Paul Sibilio, Jr.; her parents, Mary E. Hanberry and Wyburg M. Hanberry; sister, Sandra Migchelbrink; sister-in law, Linda Sibilio and brother-in-laws, Johnny Campbell, Michael Sibilio and Emilio Sibilio.
The visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. and the memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024 in the Hodgson Memorial Chapel at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Ga, with Pastor Mike Locklear officiating.
