Joan Allison Boaen passed away at home surrounded by her family December 1, 2021 at the age of 88. A lifelong resident of Savannah, she was preceded in death by her parents, John Samuel Allison and Edna Hardison Allison, and her husband John Edward Boaen. Joan was born in Savannah in 1933 and lived her entire life on the same property she was born on in the community of Montgomery. She married J. Edward Boaen on September 30, 1953, and together they started Boaen’s Sanitary Service (also known as Curbie Sanitation) in 1961. Joan proved to be a savvy businesswoman, working in her business well past retirement age. She was also a charter member of Ferguson Avenue Baptist Church, playing the piano and organ there in her younger years. Joan was a true example of a godly woman, showing kindness to all who came into her circle. Her accomplishments are known to God and the people who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Allison (Roi), grandson Clayton Thurlow (Jennifer), granddaughter Hannah Joy (Mat), great-grandchildren Izabelle, Christian, Annabelle, Liberty, Ezekiel, Michelle, Emma, John, Samuel, and Andrew. There will be a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Sermon on the Mount Gardens, on Monday, December 6th, 2021 at 2:45.
