Jo Ann Chester, age 80, of Savannah, GA passed away Monday, April 10, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center.
Mrs. Chester was born on November 13, 1942 in Portal, GA, the daughter of the late Joseph Gordon Hodges and Beulah Merle Smith Hodges. She was a graduate of Savannah High School and began her career as a Data Processor with Suntrust Bank. She retired from banking to start a family and care for her children. She was a member of Garden City Baptist Church and later Savannah Christian Church. Jo Ann enjoyed sewing and loved gardening and flowers.
Mrs. Chester is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Gary Lee Chester; son, Albert Lee Chester (Melanie); daughter, Patricia Ann Kelley (Donald B. Kelley, Jr.); siblings, Evelyn Douglass, Eubie Hendrix, Hilda Deason, and Brenda Bazemore; grandchildren, Leigh Anne (AJ), Jimmy (Sara), Mitch (Meche), and Matthew (Kaitlin); and great grandchildren, Mila Leigh, Quest, and Liam.
A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
