Jimmie L. "Mimmie" Bonner, 74, went home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2019 after a long battle with leukemia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Bonner, brothers Fred Bonner, Larry Bonner, and brother-in-law Wilson Credle; and father-in-law Bill Love.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of almost 52 years Kathryn Love Bonner; Brother: Allen (Kim) Bonner; Nieces: "Mimmie's Girl" Katie (Michael) Connor, Harper Grace, Luke, and Merritt; Jessica (Christian) Turley and family; Nephews: Fred (Robin) Bonner, Jr. and family; Gregory (Jill) Bonner and family; Tony (Cyd) Pagliarullo and family; Mother-In-Law Florence Love; Brothers-in-Law: Mike (Lori) Love, Tony (Brenda) Love and family, Kenny (Cathy) Love and family; Sisters-in-law: Jane Credle and family, and Terri (Butch) Butcher and family.
Jimmie was a great and selfless man, and found so much joy in loving and serving his family and friends. He served faithfully as an usher at his church, First Baptist Church of the Islands. He retired from CSX after 40 years of faithful service. He loved and cared deeply for his pets. He was so creative and was always building something, growing something, painting something, fixing something, or cooking something. There was no place he would rather be than in his boat on the river with family and friends, and a fishing pole in his hand!
There will be a celebration of Jimmie's life on Saturday July 27, 2019, at First Baptist Church of the Islands (6613 Johnny Mercer Blvd). Visitation will begin at 1pm and the service will begin at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of the Islands.
The family has entrusted Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel with services. 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406 (912) 927-1999.
