Jewell Margaret Flake Brown, 75, of Savannah, GA passed away May 19, 2021 surrounded by the ones she loved at her home.
She was born September 12, 1945 in Augusta, GA to the late Grace Anderson Flake and Richard Golphin Flake. She was married to the love of her life Timothy Elese Brown for 56 years. Jewell was a Registered Nurse at Saint Joseph Candler Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and retired from the Center for Digestive Disease, Dr. Mark Murphy's office.
Jewell loved to travel to Brazil to visit her brother, and Las Vegas in attempts of becoming a millionaire! Although she was not Irish, she absolutely loved St. Patrick's day and attended the parade in Savannah each year. She shocked the family each year as participants from the parade one by one would stop and give mom a hug as they passed by. Jewell had a gift, she was able to talk to anybody and make friends with total strangers just by her smile. She was also a warrior overcoming cancer three times.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sweet infant son Thomas Russell Brown; her granddaughter, Candice Marie Brown; and her sister, Nell Weldon.
Surviving are her daughters Kimberly Brown West, Virginia "Ginger" Stephens, and Grace Brown; her sister, Betty Rucker; her brother, Richard Flake; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday May 27, 2021, 6PM at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406
