Jewel Evangeline Nieuwstraten, 89, of Savannah and widow of George Nieuwstraten, Jr., passed away, Wednesday, October 19th, 2016, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born in Savannah the daughter of the late William Fritts and Georgia Greear Fritts.
Jewel was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, George Leonard Nieuwstraten, III, currently residing in Baltimore, MD; 3 Daughters: Jan N. Angel and her husband, David E. Angel, Jr. of Rock Hill, S.C., Julie N. Jessmore and her husband, James Jessmore of Savannah and Jill N. McCall of Savannah; Brother, David Fritts of Savannah; sister, Jean Stewart of Black Mountain, NC; 12 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Remembrances: Alzheimer's Association, 201 Television Cir, Savannah, GA 31406.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah. Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 3:30p.m., at Baker McCullough Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Billy Hester, October 22nd, 2016, with burial to follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.
