Jesse "Sonny" Lawson Gunn Jr

Jesse "Sonny" Lawson Gunn Jr, 87, of Garden City, GA, passed away on Friday, July 26th, 2024. He was born on August 3rd, 1936 in Savannah, GA.
A retired Longshoremen and Air Force veteran, Jesse was a beloved member of the community. He was an active member of Garden City United Methodist Church, past president of the Southeast Bowling Association, and a member of the American Bowling Congress. He enjoyed bird watching and tinkering in his yard and shop.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Barbara Scott Gunn, his father Jesse Lawson Gunn Sr, his mother Dorothy Harley Gunn, his brother Billy Gunn, and his daughter-in-law Patricia Gunn.
Jesse is survived by his children, James L. Gunn, Jessica McEachern (Brad), Jeff Gunn (Tonya), Julie Fielding (Jim), Mike Paul (Amy), Terri Hill (Mark), several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family and friends.
Jesse will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace.
Funeral services will be held at Garden City United Methodist Church on Friday, August 2nd, 2024 at 11:00 am. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family ask for donations to St Jude Children’s hospital, Savannah Hospice, or Spanish Oaks hospice in lieu of flowers.
