Jesse Lawton Wainwright, age 85, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at home surrounded by his loved ones after a strong battle with cancer.
Jesse was a well-known musician, having played with the Herb River Boys in Savannah and surrounding areas. He was also a member of the Elks Club.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Gail Anderson Wainwright of seventeen years, and three children: Bill Wainwright, Victor Wainwright, Sr., Bridge Wainwright Spivey, and a step-daughter, Kim Ulmer. He had six grandchildren: Victor Wainwright, Jr., Stephanie Wainwright, Jared Spivey, Jamison Spivey Hugunin Jordan Spivey and Jason Ulmer. He also had two great-grandsons: Owen and Sam Spivey. He was so very proud of them all. He is also survived by his beloved siblings: his brother, Tom Wainwright of Albermarle, NC, and his sister, Margie Wainwright Lindsey of Tybee Island, GA., brother, Tom Wainwright.
The family will receive family and friends at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, on Thursday, December 28, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home on Friday, December 29 at 11:00am.
