Jerry Guy, 72, of Acworth, Georgia, died peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior, on April 18, 2019. His wife was by his side.

Jerry lived in the Cobb County, Georgia area most of his life. He was a graduate of Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia. He attended Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia, and transferred to Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Before his early retirement, Jerry had a successful sales career for 25 years with both Diners Club International and Citigroup. He was also a Major with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Special Operations Division for 10 years.

Jerry and his wife of 38 years, who was his soul mate and best friend, enjoyed traveling throughout their marriage. He was also an avid ham radio operator for many years.

He was preceded in death by his: father, Ulysses Gilbert Guy, and mother-in-law, Joanne Dewberry Mackey.

Survived by his: loving wife Melanie; devoted mother, Margie Guy; brother Greg and wife Debi Guy; father-in-law Carlton Mackey, all of Georgia; sister-in-law Marilyn and husband Tim Halkola of Michigan; brother-in-law Mark Mackey of South Carolina; sister-in-law Laura Big Eagle of Tennessee;  nieces and nephews: Avery Guy,  Taylor Guy,  both of Georgia, Jessica and husband Dan Ogden of South Carolina; Brianna and husband  Dan Ross of Tennessee; and James Saari of South Carolina;  great nieces and nephews: Grace Saari, Jackson Ogden, Ella Ross, Josephine Ross, Vivian Ross; many cousins; and several business and personal friends and neighbors from his community.

A graveside service celebrating Jerry's life will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019, 1:00 p.m., at the Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund ( www.kidneyfund.org ), and the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org ).
