Jerry Lewis Clark

March 31, 1943 — June 5, 2023

Jerry Lewis Clark, Sr. “Red Dog”, age 80, of Morganton passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 at the Union County Nursing Home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Clark was born on March 31, 1943 in Savannah to the late John Edward Clark and the late Pansy Holcomb Clark. He was a 1961 graduate of H.V. Jenkins High School and was voted the friendliest of his graduating class. After high school, he attended college at Los Angeles City College, Brewton Parker College, and the University of Georgia before being drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. Mr. Clark served 25 years in the military as a combat medic; he was a proud Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. During his military career, he served in both the Army, spending time at Hunter Army Air Field, and then transitioned to the Georgia Air National Guard where he worked at the 165th Tactical Air Wing Clinic at Travis Field. In 1980, he was assigned to be the Medical NCOIC of the medical clinic of the 224th Combat Communications Squadron on St. Simons Island. Mr. Clark served as the First Sergeant of the 165th Tactical Air Wing Clinic and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant.

In addition to his military service, Mr. Clark worked in the civilian world as a computer programmer for the City of Savannah, an English teacher, Medical Salesman, and a home builder. He also worked for many years as the Minister of Activities and Director of Operations at Calvary Baptist Temple. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville. He was a man's man, a masterful story teller, and the life of the party; he never met a stranger and had a huge servant's heart. Most importantly, he loved the Lord and his family.

Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 19 years, Donna Hauser Clark; sons and daughters-in-law, Jay & Kellie Clark and David & Michelle Hauser; daughter and son-in-law, Lauren & Jeremy Sadkin; twin sister, Jeanne Lee Carter; seven grandchildren, Chase Clark (Brei), Harrison Clark, Hayden Clark, Bennett Sadkin, Camila Hauser, Lola Hauser, and Charlotte Sadkin; and two great grandchildren, Selah and Kennedy Clark.
