Jeannette Yvonne Landry Lee, 90, of Savannah, Georgia, formerly of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 5 th , 2022, surrounded by her family at The Oaks of Savannah.
Born on June 17, 1931, in Drummondville, Québec, she was the daughter of the late Peter J. Landry and the late Claudys L. (Frappier) Landry. She cherished her family; older sisters,
Gabrielle F. (Landry) Stevens and Jeanne Marie Landry; and younger brothers, Pierre, Jack and Robert Landry.
Jeannette married Edwin Knute Lee of Syracuse, New York, on Saturday, October 14, 1950 at St. Ambrose Church in Rochester, New York. She gave birth to their only son, Kirk Edwin Lee, on November 16, 1960, in Los Angeles, California. They made many wonderful homes across Massachusetts, Illinois, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Indiana, and Florida. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Jeannette was an accomplished Executive Administrative Assistant in the banking and medical industries. Jeannette was also a talented violinist, studying at an early age under her father’s instruction; she went on to perform with several civic orchestras in the towns where she resided.
Always a gracious and positive presence, Jeannette enjoyed a wide variety of activities with friends and family throughout her lifetime. She was an avid golfer, and served as President of her community’s golf association in Winter Haven, Florida. She loved playing Bridge and Mahjong, attending church services, being a patron of classical and jazz musical events and serving children’s hospital organizations in the many cities that she called home. She relished the opportunity to travel, especially with her siblings, to ancestral locations in Canada and France, and to family reunions on Lake Winnipesaukee and in Rochester, New York. She valued the special relationships that she cultivated with her family, maintaining active interest in the lives of her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband of 56 years, she was predeceased by her sister, Jeanne Marie Landry, in 1931; brother, Pierre C. Landry, in 1994; sister, Gabrielle F. (Landry) Stevens, in 2012; and brother, Robert P. Landry, in 2017. She is survived by her son, Kirk E. Lee, and his wife, Patricia P. Lee, of Savannah, Georgia; her granddaughters, Meredith H. Lee, of Savannah, Georgia, and Madeline F. Lee, of Celebration, Florida; her brother, Jack (Theo) Landry, of Crossville, Tennessee; and twelve nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June, 3, 2022, in the chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home.
