Jeanne Bignault Shurling, 82, of Savannah, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, July 6, 2024 at her home.
A native of Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Francis Albert Bignault Sr. and Winona Constance Barron Bignault.
Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who prided herself on her appearance and her passion for staying active well into her 80's. She enjoyed crafting, dancing, traveling, playing cards and being the life of her grandchildren's birthday parties. Christmas was her favorite time of year.
She was a member for 70 years at South Gardens Christian Church, led by Pastor Steven Helmly, until the church closed it's doors. At that time, she moved her membership to Pooler First Baptist Church.
Jeanne was also a member of many other groups and organizations including, The Shag Club, the Christian Women's Group, the Red Hat Society, the Dixieland Cruisers, Our Gang, the Port City Cruisers, the Golden Girls, and served as President of the AACA- Savannah Chapter in 2012.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Durell "Dewey" Shurling; and a brother, Howard Emile Bignault.
Survivors include her children, Debra Jeanne Shurling, Connie Shurling Ondriezek (Mark S.) and Durell "Knuckles" Shurling (Lisa); grandchildren, Winona J. Gray (Joe), D. Lorain Rimes (Nathan), R.C. "Raymond" Coursey, Aaron Jose Castillo, Christina Durell Serna (Sebastian), Stephanie B. Ashworth (Clint), Frances Cierra Sealbinder (Shane), Jenalee N. Shurling (James) and Jessica D. Branon (Hunter); eighteen great-grandchildren, five and a half great great-grandchildren; brother, Francis A. "Sonny" Bignault Jr. (Debby) sister, Sandy Daniels; beloved dog, Duke; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 from 6-8pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 11am in the chapel of the funeral home with Brother Seth Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey East on Wheaton Street.
