Jeanne Gerken Alberino, of Savannah, Ga., passed away Saturday, Aug 4, 2018 at her residence.
She was born August 11, 1931 in Savannah, Ga., to Alma Kramer Gerken and Henry Gerken, Jr.
She was a 1948 Graduate of Savannah High School, attended Armstrong Jr. College, transferred to Newberry College, Newberry, S.C., where she majored in Piano and Organ, and Minor in Business.
She met Joe Alberino at Bible School at St.Paul's Lutheran Church in the summer of 1948, married Joe on September 13, 1952.
Active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Savannah, Ga., since birth. Taught Sunday School, Directed Jr. Choir, Member of Music Committee. Sang in Chancel Choir since 1946. Served as teacher at Bible School, Member of the Welca (Women of the Church). Church Council Member, serving as Secretary of the Council. Assistant Chancel Choir Director for many years and substitute organist under Billy Clarke.
Member of Savannah Symphony Chorale. Member of volunteer Services at Memorial Medical Center, serving as its President and Vice President.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Martha Kramer Gerken, father, Henry Gerken, Jr..
She is survived by her husband, Joseph William Alberino, Jr., of 65 years., son, Michael William Alberino (wife Peggy Nowicki Alberino), daughter, Lisa Alberino Snyder, grandchildren: Joseph William Alberino, III, and Michael Shane Alberino., brother, Henry Gerken,(Beverly) of Orlando, Fla.
They built a retirement home in Boone, N.C., and spent many summers in the mountains.
Visitation: 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Peter J. Hartmann, officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
Remembrances to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Thank You to all of our great sitters for all they did and they are now a part of our family.
