Jean Gallaher Muller, age 100, of Savannah, GA, peacefully entered God's Kingdom on Wednesday March 3, 2021, at Azalealand Nursing Home.
Jean was born in Augusta, Georgia to Edward Joseph and Erma Renkl Gallaher on January 15, 1921. She was the devoted wife of John F. “Fred” Muller for 56 years, until his death in 1996, and a dedicated mother to her nine children. In 1951, she was named Catholic Mother of the Year for the state of Tennessee. Jean is known as Mom and Mommy by her children, as Grandmother by grandchildren and great grandchildren, as Mrs. M by her extended family, and as Gunny by a group of young Marines who had graduated from the Naval Academy with one of her sons.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, John F. “Fred” Muller, her daughter, Joan Marie Muller Bresciani, her three brothers and one sister, and two grandchildren, Christopher Tromly and Anthony Muller. She is survived by eight of her children, Fred Muller (Concesa) of Crestview, FL, Richard Muller (Karen) of Augusta, Michael Muller of Richmond Hill, Barbara Tromly (Gene) of Hampton, VA, Robert Muller and Karl Muller (Antia) of Savannah, Lois Eckes of Richmond Hill, and Dan Muller (Robin) of Savannah, 22 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren from Virginia to Florida and California.
A Rosary Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1707 Bull Street, Savannah, GA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Fr. John Lyons, Celebrant. Graveside Internment Service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA immediately after the Mass.
The family will receive friends and family at Jean’s house on 58th Street after both the Rosary Service on Sunday, and the Graveside Service on Monday.
