Jean Thelma Alderfer-Troster

Jean Alderfer-Troster, age 93, of Savannah passed away Friday, August 4, 2023.
Mrs. Alderfer-Troster was born on December 30, 1929 in Gwynedd, Pennsylvania to the late George Franklin Breisch and the late Helen Melcina Kibblehouse Breisch. Jean was graduated from Ambler High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Beaver College in 1951. She was a retired school teacher and worked as a substitute teacher prior to retirement. Jean loved spending summers in Byram, New Jersey - especially when her grandchildren; Chris, Kevin and Megan, joined her. Swimming, bicycling, boating and tubing were some activities that they enjoyed together. In addition, she was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Savannah and formerly attended Church of the Messiah in Gwynedd, Pennsylvania.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Susan C. Carfa (Louis); sister, Marjorie H. Fuehrer; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her late brother, George F. Breisch; late husband Robert C. Alderfer and late husband Martin J. Troster.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).
A visitation will also be held on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Church of the Messiah in Pennsylvania. A funeral service will follow at the church at Noon.
Interment will follow in the cemetery at Church of the Messiah.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church (2 St. Thomas Ave Savannah, GA 31406) or Church of the Messiah (1001 Dekalb Pike Lower Gwynedd, PA 19002).
