Janet Sharpe Jones, 72, of Savannah, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born in Petersburg, Virginia, and moved back to Savannah, Ga before she was a year old.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Ada Sharpe, brother, Tommy Sharpe, and daughter, Tori Wiggins.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Fred, sons, Kerry Jones (Stephanie) of Louisville, KY; Barry Jones (Sonya) of Harrisburg, NC; daughter, Jennifer Dawson (Greg) of Savannah, Ga; 14 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Savannah High School, Class of 1961, and married Fred Jones, June 3, 1962.
She lived in Macon for 10 years, Bryan County for 6 years, and settled in Savannah for the rest of her life.
She was a Homemaker for 17 years, had a Home Daycare for 8 years, then worked at American Legion Post #135, and then White Bluff United Methodist Church, and then she served as an Administrative Assistant at the Savannah Baptist Association for 10 years, before retiring in 2003.
She loved to sew, sing and travel, and be with her family members at Windsor Forest Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school to youth and adults for many years, and she sang with the Gospel Group, the Lord's Men and Janet.
Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Rick West, officiating.
Interment: Bonaventure Cemetery.
