Jana Sue Riherd, age 68, of Savannah, Georgia passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by family.
A native of Delray Beach, Florida, Jana was born on March 9, 1955. She was the daughter of John “Jack” and Janice Federspiel. Jana graduated from Atlantic High School in 1973 and continued her education at the University of Florida. Jana worked as a bookkeeper for many years, lastly working for the Cobb County Board of Education.
Jana retired to Blue Ridge, GA spending her days going on adventures with her husband, Ron, whether it was just around town, down to their second home in Savannah, or abroad on one of their many European travels. Jana was an active member at Compassion Christian Church, devoting her time and energy volunteering in the kitchen with Manna, and fellowshipping with her bible study group weekly.
Jana enjoyed playing tennis as a child, learning from her dad, and continued to play as an adult. Growing up the daughter and granddaughter in a family of professional bakers, she enjoyed baking a variety of sweets from family recipes passed down over time. And just as her mom did, Jana loved entertaining and welcoming friends and family into her home. She also enjoyed gardening, interior design, decorating for holidays, traveling, and most of all spending time with loved ones.
Jana is preceded in death by her parents, John “Jack” Francis Federspiel and Janice Rosella Millner Federspiel; her loving husband, Ronald Lloyd Riherd; her brother, Robert Walter Federspiel; and her nephew, Robert Bradley Federspiel.
She is survived by her daughter, Brooke Sullivan (Patrick); son, Andrew Wanex; stepdaughter, Chelsey Smith (Bobby); grandchildren, Elijah, Cayla, Gabriel, Jonah, Samuel, and Charlotte; sister, Laurie Vassalotti (Frank); sister-in-law, Cindy Federspiel (Carl Carter); niece, nephews, and many loving family members and friends.
