James Ellis Weaver, Jr., 64, of Garden City, Georgia passed away October 18, 2022 at Memorial Hospital with his wife by his side.
He was born in Savannah, Georgia to Lillian C. Cannon Weaver and James Ellis Weaver, Sr. at Candler Hospital. He was raised in Savannah and graduated from Bible Baptist in 1975.
James was a shift supervisor at the Savannah Sugar Refinery for 43 years until his retirement. He valued his relationships with his co-workers and thought of them more like family. He would often make breakfast for them at his own home and take it with him to work to make sure that everyone was well fed and ready for a long day of work. He could always be counted on to help his co-workers with any task set before them.
He was an avid sports fan with a particular love of football. During football season, he could often be found watching any number of football games, perhaps most especially his beloved Georgia Bulldogs.
James was an outgoing outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, woodworking and nature. He drew great inspiration from all things outdoors. Out of that great love for all things natural, he gained a deep appreciation for birds, spending long hours bird watching, always making sure to have plenty of birdseed on hand to fill his birdfeeders.
Traveling was one of his favorite pastimes. He and his wife, Lisa, took many trips with their dogs to the Blue Ridge Mountains to enjoy the relaxing scenery and atmosphere, including the changing of the leaves, a beautiful sight to behold.
Surviving to cherish his memory are wife, Lisa Sawdy Weaver; sons, Roy Thomas Weaver and his wife Lisa; Christopher Aaron Weaver and his wife Heather; parents, Lillian and James E. Weaver, Sr.; brother, Kenneth Weaver and his wife Candy; and several grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in James’ honor to your favorite charity.
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy Philippians 1: 3-4
