James Alvin Stokes

James Alvin "Jimmy" Stokes, age 84, of Savannah passed away on Friday, April 12, 2025.

Mr. Stokes was born on September 4, 1940 in Savannah to the late Len Wood Stokes and the late Dorothy Hires Stokes. Before retiring, he was the owner and operator of Chatham Heating & Air. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Mr. Stokes was a member of the Thunderbolt Lodge #693 F.&A.M. and was a member of Alee Shrine Temple where he was active with the Dune Cat Unit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Faye Tyler Stokes; and his brother, Donnie Stokes.

Survivors include sons, James Randall Stokes, Mark Allen Stokes (Mary), and Jason Reed Stokes; sister, Gail Stokes; brother, Irvin Stokes; grandchildren, James E. Stokes, Alicia Marie Stokes, and Rachael Amanda Stokes.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church (4700 Skidaway Road Savannah, GA 31404).

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
