James Robert McCullough Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, at the age of 75 at his home in Garden City, Georgia. Born in Savannah, Georgia on Tuesday, January 3rd, 1950, James lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love.
James was the retired owner-operator of McCullough Roofing, where his hard work and commitment to excellence left a lasting mark on the community. Known for his vibrant spirit and good humor, he was affectionately referred to as an "ornery old man” by those who cherished his company. One of James's greatest joys was riding the river, a passion he shared with his family and friends, who meant the world to him.
James is survived by his sons, James Robert McCullough Jr., Donnie Lee McCullough, and Brandon James McCullough; his stepson, Jason Graham; and his treasured grandchildren, Alexis, Macy, Robbie, Hailey, Cody, Kaylee, Braxton, Tyler, and Taylor. James's legacy also lives on through his five great-grandchildren.
He will be profoundly missed by his siblings, Edward McCullough, Carolyn Herrington, Phyllis Bragg, and Marie Wagner, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Flonnie Eddie McCullough and Gracie Mae Hudson McCullough; his beloved wife and the love of his life, Angela Kay Floyd McCullough; his brother-in-law, Keith Herrington; and his most faithful companion, his dog Rocco.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate James's life during the visitation service, which will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel.
A graveside service to honor James's memory will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 28th, 2025, at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
Arrangements for the services are being handled by Baker McCullough Funeral Home-Garden City Chapel.
James Robert McCullough Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his work ethic, and his zest for life. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
