James R. “Jim” Keuler, loving husband and father, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 68 on September 10, 2021 at his home in Savannah, Georgia.
Jim was born June 23, 1953, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Alfred and Janice (Herzog) Keuler. He grew up and worked on the family farm until his graduation from John F Kennedy Preparatory School in 1971. He went on to attend UW Steven’s Point for Conservation Studies. He later worked as a ready mix cement truck driver and then as an over the road truck driver. Jim completed his education as an industrial electrician and moved to Rincon, Georgia, where he worked as a construction electrician building the Fort Howard Paper Mill and also worked as a maintenance electrician. He topped off his career employed with the Georgia Ports Authority as an Electrical Mechanical Technician for 16 years, until he retired in 2019.
Jim married his loving wife, Christine Mary Kuether on November 1, 1986, in Fond du Lac, WI. Their first and only child, son, Nicholas, was born in Georgia February 20, 1990. Jim was a kind and loving husband. Family was what he valued most in his life. He commemorated family milestones and events on the family calendar he created each year. Jim never met a stranger who remained a stranger. In his free time his hobbies included traveling, photography, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed learning and mastering new skills.
His wife, Christine, and son, Nick, survive him in Savannah, GA. Jim is also survived by his father, Alfred Keuler, Kiel, WI, and siblings: Charles (Kris), Springfield, MO; Christine, Eagan, MN; Mary (Joseph) Guidotti, Lakeville, MN; Margaret (Andrew) Feider, New Holstein, WI; Karen (Tim) Peterson, Menasha, WI; Mark (Betsy) Keuler, Wrightstown, WI; JoAnn (Randy) Schultz, Marshfield, WI. and sister in law, Peggy Keuler, Sobieski, WI. Brothers in law, Steve (Marie) Kuether, Fond du Lac, WI; Mark (Dawn) Kuether, Fond du Lac, WI; and Jeff (Vicki) Kuether, Fond du Lac, WI. Preceded in death by mother, Janice Keuler, and brother, Michael Keuler.
A visitation will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr. Savannah, Georgia 31406 on Thursday, September 23rd, from 6-8pm. A memorial mass will be held at St. Peter and Paul Church in Kiel, Wisconsin 53042 on Tuesday October 12 at 11am, with visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers and memorials, the family requests donations to the causes most important to Jim: Any Georgia or Wisconsin wildlife conservation effort, Sisters of Mercy Convent in Savannah , St. Francis Cabrini Church in Savannah , St. Peter and Paul Church in Kiel, Ducks Unlimited , National Wild Turkey Federation , U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, or National Park Service.
